I live in South London and share our humble abode with spouse Andrew and son Matthew.

My background includes modern languages (having spent my teenage years in Germany and France), Classics and Theology. I have taught A Level students in a 'crammer' and also qualified as a teacher of RE but this has not proved to be what I want to do with my life.

I have spent a lot of my time in the last few years acting as Secretary of ALAS (All Lewisham Autism Support). Besides correspondence this involves producing newsletters and maintaining the website. I shall be letting someone else take over this soon.

The voluntary activity has now paid off and I have paid employment giving advice and information to families who have a child with a disability. I am Assistant Project Coordinator for the relatively new Southwark Project of the national charity Contact a Family. Parents of children with disabilities in Southwark have in the past been poorly served, so this project is a useful venture - I pleased to have the job too!
